"The Two Percenters" originates from the idea of how unique the identity of an athlete is. Research shows that less than 2% of high school basketball athletes go on to play at a NCAA Division I school and of that, still less than 2% go on to play professionally. Even with such a small population, the impact an athlete can have is remarkable, but this lifestyle is not for the weak. I started The Two Percenters because I wanted to create a space where I can not only share my experience of being an athlete but also to provide a safe space for others to share their stories. I want to be able to reach other athletes that may be going through the same things that I am so that we can support and empower one another!

About Me...

My name is Mai-Loni Henson. I played basketball at the University of Washington and graduated in 2020 with my BA in Public Health. I'm 25 years old and have been playing this beautiful game of basketball since I was 5. I created this blog to record as much of my experience as a pro athlete as possible. I want to share my story which includes the different experiences and lessons that I have endured during my career. I hope to use this platform as a way to connect with others that may share a similar experience or for those that are just interested in what goes on in the life of a pro athlete! I can't wait to share my story with you! :)
